Here is a short video on how to get a raw, lo-fi sound easily.
This sample "Yutaka- Evening Star" is used in a number of tracks, I have decided to put my own twist on it.
I use FL Studio 12 but it's the same principle on every DAW. The hardest part is finding the sample.

If you really wanted to spice up your bass, since a lot of stuff in jazz is based around a 2-5-1 chord progression, make the bass go from D then to G then to C, which is the root note. If you think what you're sampling is a 2-5-1 then go ahead and use that, but if you're not really sure, just go with what he's doing here :D

Sensei Sampling is an essential part of being creative with music. Blatantly using something without altering it using creativity is plagiarism

This tutorial is dope but I wish you would've went slow and showed how you did the sampling part. I couldn't follow along when you would chop it up cuz you would cut to the next edit without showing whay you did
